The Embassy of Switzerland, in collaboration with Stimulus Africa, is pleased to announce the second open call for project proposals under the Swiss Support to Arts Development in Zimbabwe – SSADZA Fund. This initiative aims to empower Zimbabwean artists and creative institutions by providing financial support for innovative projects that promote artistic excellence, cultural diversity, and sustainable development within Zimbabwe’s arts sector.
Funding Tiers
Grants are available based on the type of applicant:
Individuals (e.g., emerging/mid-career artists, curators, writers):
· Up to USD 2,000 per project.
· Exceptional projects with high impact potential may be considered for increased funding, subject to justification.
Institutions (e.g., collectives, arts NGOs, festivals, community arts groups):
· USD 2,500 – USD 5,000 per project.
· Final amounts will be determined on a case-by-case basis, considering the project’s scope, reach, and sustainability plans.
Geographical Scope
Projects can be implemented anywhere in Zimbabwe. Applications from all 10 provinces are strongly encouraged.
Who Can Apply?
A. Individuals
• Zimbabwean citizens aged 18+ in any creative discipline.
• Applicants must demonstrate a track record in their field; emerging artists are eligible.
B. Institutions
• Registered Zimbabwean arts organizations (CBOs, NGOs, trusts, associations) or informal collectives with proven community impact.
• Institutions must operate non-profit projects aligned with SSADZA’s goals.
Priority Groups
· Women, youth (18–35), persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities are especially encouraged to apply.
· Proposals promoting gender equality, social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, or accessibility will receive favorable consideration.
Eligible Projects
Projects must culminate in a showcase (event/exhibition) and should:
• Foster artistic creation, skills development, or audience engagement.
• Demonstrate innovation, feasibility, and clear community/cultural value.
Exclusions:
• Commercial ventures, partisan political activities, travel, infrastructure, projects focused on working with children under 18 years, educational programs, capital purchases of equipment or immovable property, or projects already funded by the SSADZA programme.
Selection Criteria
Proposals will be assessed on:
• Creativity (originality/artistic merit).
• Showcasing (performance/presentation output, show, exhibition, premiere).
• Feasibility (realistic timeline/budget).
• Impact (audience reach, skills transfer, social cohesion).
• Inclusivity (engagement of women/youth/PWDs).
